Wydad Casablanca, as African Champion, will participate in FIFA Club World Cup 2017 and could also compete in the 2018 edition if approved by the African confederation of Football (CAF).
According to Assabah, CAF is required to implement the recommendations of the Skhirat Symposium related to changing the calendar of African competitions with a view to adapting it to European tournaments. Thus, this will result in delaying the next African Champions League tournament and it will not possible, consequently, to designate in time the club that will have to participate in FIFA Club World Cup 2018.
The news paper added that the president of CAF, Ahmad Ahmad, has engaged to implement all the recommendations of Skhirat Symposium in which participated several previous stars of football in Africa as well as experts.
If adopted by the executive committee of CAF, these changings would permit to WAC to represent Africa in FIFA Club World Cups 2017 and also 2018 in United Arab Emirates.
