“Media blackmail” suspects sentenced to time in prison, by power of law

In light of the alleged charges related to defamation, extortion and fraud, the court sentenced, on Friday, “3lach TV” news website director, Mohamed Kassimi, and his fellow cameraman, Karim Selmaoui, to one year in prison; while “Lenquete.ma” director, Hatim Hajji, was sentenced to 8 months.

It is noteworthy that Morocco’s judicial police has referred the three media figures to the General Prosecution in Casablanca, upon charges of extortion and fraud, for all three defendants were pronounced guilty in light of forging official documents and impersonating legally competent parties, as part of an alleged “Media blackmail network”.
