PAM’s leader Abdellatif Ouahbi, accompanied by his party’s political bureau member, Mehdi Bensaïd, held a meeting on Thursday with Simon Skira, Secretary General of French Federation of Moroccan Judaism and Head of the Moroccan-Israeli Friendship Association, at the party’s headquarters in Rabat.

In his statement to “” news website, Skira affirmed that the meeting he had with the PAM’s chief was « fruitful » and both sides have discussed several issues related to “Moroccan-Israeli relations”, in light of the recent developments in this regard, highlighting that The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) is considered to be a modernist party that is open to anything likely to serve the interests of the nation as a whole.

“Being a Moroccan myself, I tended to delve into the history of relations between Morocco and Israel, in order to learn more about my origins and the history of my country that I have dearly. Indeed, the relations between the two countries have known tides, but there has always been a thin thread that kept linking both sides, provided that the Moroccans of Israel have been serving as ambassadors to their country of origin in Israel”, Skira underlined.

The close relationship linking monarchs to Jewish subjects has deep historical extensions that have been strengthened during the reign of the late King Hassan II, and King Mohammed VI, may God assist him”, he added.

As for the resumption of relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv, the President of the Federation for Moroccan Judaism in France noted that such historic event represents a new phase of collaboration between both countries, and will enhance cooperation between Morocco and Israel in various fields, pointing that Moroccan Jews are forever attached to their motherland and are thrilled over resuming relations with their motherland, for this will enable them to visit Morocco and learn more about their Moroccan origins.
