Africa – Perspectives from Africa on Leadership in a Global Crisis
Announcement. The UN Global Compact has shared a special appeal #UnitingBusiness around a corporate response to the COVID-19 pandemic: for all companies to take collective action to stem the outbreak through implementing our Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Effectively addressing this crisis requires an active response from Governments, business and the whole of society.
In Africa, much like in most other regions in the world, the COVID-19 crisis threatens the continent with far-reaching and potentially devastating human and economic costs.
While the outbreak is slow in its early stages on the continent, the situation in Africa is especially concerning given the high numbers of vulnerable people on the continent many of which lack the social and economic protections to weather the crisis.
Since the first cases on the continent were reported, governments across Africa have been taking decisive action via sweeping measures to contain the outbreak. With so many stakeholders working towards the same goal of managing the crisis, business has the opportunity to come together and respond to COVID-19 with effective solutions to support those most in need.
Join us for a regional spotlight session in a series of special live webinars that highlight the existing and new approaches to leadership in a time of global crisis.
This session will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation in French.
