Moroccan FM, Comorian Official Discuss Means to Promote Bilateral Cooperation

The strengthening of relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Comoros Islands was the focus of talks Wednesday in Rabat between minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the envoy of the Comorian president, Bianrifi Tarmidi.

At a press briefing following the talks, Bourita, who received Tarmidi on instructions from HM King Mohammed VI, expressed “great satisfaction” with the development of relations between the two countries, which are “marked by friendship, solidarity and increasingly close cooperation, particularly in the fields of training and agriculture”.

“The Comoros has always been a brotherly country, a State that has always defended the causes of Morocco,” the minister stressed, adding that the Kingdom has always supported this country’s “territorial integrity and stability” and backed its development “within the framework of the friendly relationship between HM the King and the president of the Republic of the Comoros”.

For his part, Tarmidi, carrying a written message from Comorian president, Azali Assoumani, to HM the King, said he had spoken “frankly, amicably and fraternally” with Bourita.

“Morocco and the Comoros are brotherly countries,” he said, adding that bilateral cooperation is “intensifying day by day”.

“We work in various fields,” including training, the environment, agriculture, fisheries and telecommunications services, said the Comorian official.
