Marrakesh: Tourist Overnight Stays up 8% in 2019 H1, Tourism Observatory
The total of nights spent in the different classified hotels in the city of Marrakesh posted an increase of 8% during the first half of 2019, compared to the same period a year before. According to statistics issued by the Tourism Observatory, a total of 3,967,857 overnight stays took place during the first six months of the current year against 3,669,212 overnight stays in the same period of 2018.
Regarding the occupancy rate, it stood at 63% at the end of last June, versus 58% in the January-June period of the previous year. As for the average length of stay at the end of June 2019 in the same city, it was 3 days, an average almost identical to that posted in the first six months of 2018 (3.1 days), said the same source.
This performance was also confirmed with a net increase of 29% in the total nights spent in Marrakesh classified hotels last June. A total of 658,715 nights was registered during the month of June 2019, against 509,068 overnight stays in June 2018, noted the Tourism Observatory.
