Police Arrest Indian National Suspected of Mediating Illegal Immigration Operations

Policemen arrested on Saturday in Tangier an Indian national, who lives illegally in Morocco, suspected of mediating illegal immigration and human-trafficking operations. The suspect was arrested in a flat that he was renting and using to shelter 16 would-be illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan, national police said in a statement.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect has received from these migrants cash amounts ranging from $ 1,000 and $ 7,000 dollars to reach Europe, the source added. The suspect has been remanded in custody, while investigations are underway to determine all the possible ramifications of this criminal network.
