Some 40 African Countries to Participate, Monday in Marrakech, in African Ministerial Conference on AU Support to UN Process on Dispute over Moroccan Sahara

The Kingdom of Morocco hosts the African Ministerial Conference on African Union (AU) support to the United Nations political process on the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, on Monday in Marrakech, says the ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

This meeting, which is bringing together some forty African countries from the five sub-regions of the continent, aims to express support for Assembly/AU/Dec.693(XXXI) Decision, adopted at the 31st AU Summit, held on July 1-2, 2018 in Nouakchott (Mauritania), the ministry adds in a statement, noting that this decision reaffirms the exclusivity of the United Nations in examining the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

The holding of this conference is part of the wise and enlightened vision of African States to strengthen the unity of the continent and to reject any attempt to divert it from its urgent priorities of sustainable human development, regional integration and the prosperity of its citizens, the ministry concludes.
