Moroccan Novelist Bensalem Himmich has won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award 2019 for his autobiographical book “Al Zaat: Bayn Al Wujood Wal Eijad”. Bensalem Himmich, who has previously won twice the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature, is a novelist, poet, philosopher and former minister of culture.
Himmich will officially receive the award at a ceremony that will be held in the Emirati capital on April 25, 2019, on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
The Sheikh Zayed Book Award, and its associated accolades, are presented annually to outstanding writers, intellectuals, and publishers, as well as young talent whose writing and translation in humanities objectively enriches Arab intellectual, cultural, literary and social life.
