Controversy – Venezuela : Moroccan left-wing leader takes part in a ceremony of Morocco’s enemy Nicolas Maduro

Morocco’s Democratic Way Secretary-General, Mustapha Brahma, travelled all the way to Venezuela to participate in Nicolas Maduro’s inauguration ceremony, as the newly-elected President of the Venezuelan Republic.

The ceremony, however, has known a series of protests following the declaration made by US-backed President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, upon swearing himself as Venezuela’s interim President.
Brahma’s participation in Maduro’s inauguration ceremony raised many questions, at a time where Morocco hasn’t revealed its position regarding the current situation in Venezuela.

Today, Venezuela seems divided between those supporting Maduro and those backing Guaidó’s Presidency claims, marking the break of a new cold war between USA and Russia.

It is noteworthy that Morocco and President Maduro were never” the best of friends”, for the Venezuelan President supports the Polisario front, and denies Morocco’s right to its Sahara.

For its part, Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Corporation has expressed its concern following Venezuela’s growing wave of protests in the last few years.
“Venezuela is living a state of deep deterioration at the political, economic and social levels”, Morocco’s official statement said, pointing that Oligarchy is behind controlling most fuel resources in Venezuela.

+ America’s imperialist agenda +

It is noteworthy that Brahma was the only Arab left-wing figure present during the inauguration ceremony held in Caracas. During his participation, Brahma gave a presentation on the most recent protests in the Maghreb, and has also co-founded the so-called “Anti-Imperialist People’s Front”.

Brahma has also shared some of his pictures on Facebook highlighting Maduro’s inauguration and the Bolivarian army’s Military parade. Besides, Brahma visited the mausoleum of former President Hugo Chavez as well as the Bolivarian Training Institute in Caracas. In addition, he signed the golden Book on Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution.

For its part, the Democratic Way issued a statement on Friday, to express its solidarity with the Venezuelan people, claiming that the US-backed opposition in Venezuela is trying to overthrow the country’s legitimate ruling body.

The statement also said that America’s Imperialist propaganda tended to mount a military coup against late President, Hugo Chavez, just because he was trying to fight Imperialism in Latin American countries.

The party declared that America’s imperialist agenda in Venezuela has failed on several occasions. However, imperialist powers are still trying to find the right gap to get their claws around Venezuela, through backing Maduro’s capitalist opponents, since their plan to strangulate Venezuela’s economy did not bring the expected results, despite reducing oil prices and besieging the country for over 10 years.

It is noteworthy that Juan Guaidó has the support of USA, while Russia, Mexico, Cuba and Turkey have all taken Maduro’s side. European Union countries, on the other hand, chose to remain neutral as they called for free elections.
