Over 692K Moroccans Live Legally in Spain in 2018 H1, INE

The number of Moroccans legally living in Spain, on July 1, 2018, stood at 692,379 people, against 682,022 people on January 1 of the same year, that is a slight increase of 1.5%, said on Thursday the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With an increase of 10,356 people during the first six months of the current year, Moroccans are the first foreign community legally established in the European country, said the INE in a statement.

Romanians (671,229 people) are the second largest foreign community living in Spain, followed by the British (280,669), Italians (231,157) and the Chinese (185,746), the same source added, noting that the Venezuelan community has posted a rise with 18,749 people on July 1st, followed by Colombians (+16,794 people) and Moroccans (+10,356 people).

Spain had more than 46.73 million inhabitants in the first half of 2018, meaning 74,591 more people compared to the beginning of the year, according to INE figures.
