Moroccan activists call for demonstration on Sunday against the government’s decision to keep daylight saving time all year around

ctivists called for a mass protest on Sunday November 11 in Rabat to protest against the government’s decision to keep daylight saving time (GMT + 1 time) all year around.

“Respect the dignity and the opinion of the Moroccan people”, is the slogan chosen by the initiators of this call exchanged by Internet users on social networks.

According to the site rabattoday.ma, the initiators of the call also indicated that they will denounce, during this demonstration, the “unilateral decisions (taken by the government) that affect the interests of Moroccan families like the change of time schedule” and also “the indifference (of public authorities) to the problems of health, education, employment, of drop in purchasing power and the repressive and excessive security approach against peaceful demonstrations”.

They also plan to call, during this demonstration, to “the release of all the activists of the popular protests (Hirak), the respect of the democratic liberties, the right to a dignified life, and to a fair distribution of the country’s wealth “.

The demonstration, according to its initiators, will move from Bab Al Had in Rabat towards the parliament at 10 am on Sunday.

+ El Othmani reacted a little late? +

It should be noted that the head of government Saâd Eddine El Othmani made a media apparition, Thursday evening, to explain the ins and outs of the decision on “the hour of discord”, during a TV programme on Medi1TV.

A late reaction, say his political opponents. Finally, the programme collected on Facebook Live more than 12 000 views.
