Meeting in Brussels of the 2nd Joint Committee on the fisheries protocol Morocco/EU

The second joint commission on the fisheries protocol, held from October 14-16 in Brussels, has been concluded between the Morocco and the European Union (EU), says the Ministry of Agriculture and marine fisheries.

The work of the joint commission, held in accordance with the provisions of the Protocol on fisheries between Morocco/EU, entered into force in July, 2014 and focused on the implementation of its technical and financial dimensions in the first year, added the Ministry in a statement received Sunday.

On the technical side, the parties have highlighted the smooth running of fishing activities in accordance with the provisions of the Protocol, says the same source.

Also, the European side congratulated Morocco for the implementation of a sectoral support of the protocol, dedicated to the support of Halieutis strategy, and noted its conformity to the spirit of the protocol, the ministry said.

Morocco and the EU agreed upon an adoption of the new project’s protocols to be implemented in this framework to contribute to the overall development of the national fishing industry.

Multiannual programming, project matrices, the evaluation criteria of these models, and the annual implementation reports were jointly approved in September 2014 at the first meeting of the EU-Morocco Joint Committee.
