Morocco’s government on Sunday denounced what it described as “irresponsible, awkward and unthinking approach” of Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Chairman of Morocco’s employers association (CGEM), who thought it necessary to comment the internal situation in Algeria at an international conference held in Marrakech, said the ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
These comments have prompted questions among politicians and in public opinion about their timing and their real motivations, the ministry added in a statement.
The CGEM “cannot replace the government of HM the King in taking positions on international issues and in particular the latest developments in this neighboring country”, the source pointed out, adding that the position of the Kingdom of Morocco on this issue is “clear and consistent”.
“The Kingdom of Morocco has, indeed, decided to stick to an attitude of non-interference in the developments in Algeria. Morocco abstains from commenting this matter. It does not get involved in the internal developments in this neighboring country and does not comment them in any way,” the statement said. (MAP)
