French Auction House Artcurial Opens Subsidiary in Morocco

The first French auction house Artcurial announced on Wednesday that it will open a subsidiary in Morocco to sell its orientalist and African contemporary art paintings. It is the first time that an international auction house settles in the African continent, Arcurial said in a press release.

Artcurial will also be organizing collections sales highlighting the great wealth of Moroccan decorative arts, in areas as wide-ranging as ceramics, glassware, furniture, textiles, jewelery and even old weapons, the French auction house pointed out. Oliver Berman, director of Artcurial Morocco, welcomed the opening of a subsidiary in Morocco with offices and sales in Marrakech and Casablanca to further develop the links that “we have maintained over the years with our Moroccan clientele”.
