China is banking on Morocco, due to its geostrategic location and its privileged relations, to carry out cooperation and economic projects aimed at the development of the African continent, said Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate for African Cooperation.
Morocco’s geostrategic position and its remarkable and growing presence in Africa enables it to play a central role as part of its cooperation with China, by giving a new impetus to the development process in the African continent, Jazouli told MAP on the sidelines of the China-Africa Cooperation Summit.
He noted that the excellent relations between Morocco and China, two countries united by historical ties, have been consolidated over the years, adding that the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to China in 2016 has given a strong impetus to these relations and raised them to the level of a global strategic partnership. The important position that the Kingdom enjoys on the continental scene, combined with its distinguished relations, represent favorable factors for a Chinese-Moroccan commitment that is beneficial for Africa’s development and South-South cooperation, he said.
Jazouli also said that Morocco is strongly present at the Chinese-African Cooperation Summit, held in Beijing under the theme “China and Africa: towards an even stronger community with a shared future through win-win cooperation.”
