French Multihull Boat Crew Rescued Off the Coast of Casablanca by Royal Marine

A fighting unit and a helicopter of the Royal Marine provided assistance on Saturday, 250 km off the coast of Casablanca, to a multihull boat (Trimaran) named “Banque Populaire 9”, flying the flag of France, which was in difficulty due to bad weather, the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) said in a statement.

After receiving an alert on the night of Friday to Saturday, the Royal Marine sent an offshore patrol vessel to the area and a helicopter arrived at the scene at sunrise to rescue the entire crew, the source pointed out.

Composed of three French nationals, the crew is in good shape and received first aid assistance from a doctor of the Royal Marine before being handed over to the consular authorities in Casablanca, the source added.
