Fisheries – Morocco wants to renew the fishing agreement with the European Union

Morocco is keenly looking forward for the European Court of Justice to pronounce its verdict over EU–Morocco Fisheries Partnership Agreement, on February 27; however, new data revealed that Morocco is currently undergoing a series of negotiations with the European Union in order to renew their fishing agreement, for the convention in force will expire on July 14.

For his part, Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Aziz Akhannouch, travelled to Brussels in order to hold official meetings with the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries; yet, the negotiation process was subject to rejection and fierce resistance caused by Morocco’s enemies, namely the Polisario Front, for this latter rushed to “talk the EU out of the deal”, Al-Massae newspaper said.
