Morocco/EU – Mogherini says: « Our will not only to preserve the privileged relationship we share(with Morocco), but also to strengthen it »

To put an end to speculations on the UE-Morocco fisheries accord, Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, on Wednesday, declined to comment but remained optimistic.

“The European Union takes note of the opinion of the Advocate General in case C-266/16, concerning the preliminary ruling on the validity of the Union acts concluding the Fisheries Agreement with Morocco and its Protocol », she said.

« We now await the final ruling of the Court of Justice. Pending the final ruling of the Court of Justice, we refrain from comments on the case or its outcome.

The European Union recalls that Morocco is a key partner in its Southern Neighbourhood, with which we have developed a rich and varied partnership over a period of many years. It is our will not only to preserve the privileged relationship we share, but also to strengthen it, » she added.
