Rabat impound sold out 600 cars and 1900 motorcycles at an estimated amount of 1.68 MDH via auction.
Cars and motorcycles liquidation process, which concerns vehicles impounded for more than a year, was actually launched by the communal council as part of its pound restructuring and modernization plan, Rabat City Council Vice-President stated.
The communal council has taken all necessary measures to alleviate the pressure on the municipal pound through evacuating vehicles exceeding the legal deadlines, he added.
This restructuring process, however, includes the use of new technologies for the organization and management of the pound to ensure security as well as the establishment of a single window to simplify access to the impounded cars.
It is noteworthy that this decision over impounded vehicles sales was made in accordance with the legislation in force, including the tax decree stipulating the right to sell all seized vehicles one year after the seizure.
